Choose the right makeup remover 

The first step to effective makeup removal is selecting the right makeup remover for your skin type and the makeup you wear. There are various types to consider.

Follow these steps for the perfect cleanse.

Eyes first

Eye makeup tends to be the most stubborn. Start with eye makeup removal to target waterproof mascaras and heavy eyeliners first. Use a reusable cotton pad soaked in Gentle Makeup Remover. Gently press and hold it against your closed eye for a few seconds, then wipe away the makeup without rubbing. 

Don’t forget your lips  

Next, remove all lip colour formulas from gloss to longwearing matte with a reusable cotton pad soaked in Gentle Makeup Remover. Or if you’re in a hurry, a face wipe will take off most of the formula.

Go for the double 

Double cleansing is an essential additional step. Use a gentle facial balm like Nutri-Rich Cleansing Balm. Massage it onto your face and neck, leave for a minute then rinse with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry with a clean towel. The rich oil blend and emollients break down all traces of makeup. It feels amazing to release tension and massage into the skin, while removing all impurities.

Target stubborn colour

Should I choose a waterproof formula?

All Nutrimetics formulas remove easily with makeup remover or Micellar Water, so ultimately, the choice comes down to personal preference and lifestyle. There are plenty of occasions when it is a good idea to wear a waterproof mascara. It’s essential for the swimming pool, sunbathing or working out (or even just watching a sad film). If your eyelashes are very fragile or fine, a non-waterproof formula might be a better choice as the formula has slightly less hold.

• Pumping your mascara  
  Pumping your mascara brush is a no-no. The action gets air into the formula and dries it out quicker, so try rolling and twisting instead. 
• Sharing it 
  To avoid the risk of infection, don’t share your mascaras. Or use disposable brushes instead, if lending to a friend. 
• Sleeping in it
  Sleeping in mascara can ruin your lashes. It leaves lashes stiff, which means they’re more susceptible to breakage as you toss and turn at night. Remove with Professional Micellar Cleansing Water or nc Make-Up Cleansing Tissues. 
• Not replacing your mascara 
  Mascaras usually expire every 6 months so make sure you replace regularly to get the best effect out of your formula.

How to clean your brushes

Regular washing can help extend the life of your brushes, so wash your brush ends regularly to prevent product build-up and breakouts. • Wet the bristles with lukewarm water. Do not get the handles wet.
• Using mild soap, swirl the bristles on the brush pad, in a circular motion.
• Gently rinse the bristles until the water runs clear and there are no more bubbles
• Squeeze out the excess moisture with a clean towel and allow to fully air dry before next use.

CARE TIPS: Make sure you lay them flat to let the bristles reshape. If placed upright, excess water may trickle into the handle and cause damage. Avoid storing brushes in humid places. To maintain brush lifespan, NEVER soak the wooden handles in the water. Store your brushes in cool and dry place.
